CeO2 polishing powder is widely used in glass polishing. It has the advantages of strong cutting force, short polishing time, long service life and high polishing precision. According to the content of ceria, ceria polishing powder can be divided into low, middle and high ceria polishing powder. Its cutting force and service life are also from low to high.

The main components of ceria polishing powder are cerium dioxide (CeO2), followed by lanthanum oxide (La2O3), praseodymium oxide (Pr2O3), lanthanum oxyfluoride (LaOF), in addition to containing trace silicon oxide, alumina and calcium oxide.

Ce-based rare earth polishing powder has been widely used in industrial polishing because of its excellent chemical and physical properties, such as polishing various optical glass devices, television picture tubes, optical glasses, oscilloscope tubes, flat glass, semiconductor wafers and metal precision products.
Cerium based rare earth polishing powder is mainly suitable for high-speed polishing of precision optical lenses. The polishing powder has excellent performance and good polishing effect. Because of the high price, the domestic consumption is relatively small. Medium-cerium rare earth polishing powder is mainly used for high-speed polishing of medium-precision small spherical lens in optical instruments. Compared with high-cerium polishing powder, this polishing powder can reduce the liquid concentration of polishing powder by 11%, increase the polishing speed by 35%. The product finish can be improved by one grade, and the service life of polishing powder can be increased by 30%. At present, the amount of polishing powder used in China is still low, and it needs to continue to develop new uses in the future. Low cerium rare earth polishing powder is suitable for polishing of TV kinescope, eyeglass and flat glass. In addition, other polishing powders are used for polishing optical instruments, cameras and camera lenses. This kind of polishing powders has the largest domestic consumption, about 85% of the total domestic consumption.
