Rare-Earth permanent magnet material is a kind of magnetic materials which is composed of samarium and neodymium mixed rare earth metal and transition metal (such as cobalt, iron, etc.), sintered by Yong Powder Metallurgy method and magnetized by magnetic field.
Rare-Earth permanent magnets are SM cobalt (SmCo) permanent magnets and neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets. Among them, the magnetic energy of SMCO magnets is accumulated between 15--30mgoe, and the NdFeB magnet's magnetic energy is accumulated between 27--50mgoe, which is called "Permanent Magnet King", and is the highest magnetism material at present.
Samarium-Cobalt permanent magnets, despite their excellent magnetic properties, contain scarce rare earth metals samarium and scarce and expensive strategic cobalt, so its development is greatly limited. China's rare earth permanent magnet industry began in the late 60, the leading product is samarium-cobalt permanent magnet, the current samarium-cobalt permanent magnet world sales of 630 tons, China's 90.5 tons (including Smco magnetic powder), mainly used in military technology.
With the development of computer and communication industry, rare earth permanent magnets, especially nd-feb permanent magnet industry, have been developed rapidly.
Rare-Earth permanent magnet material is now known as the most comprehensive performance of a permanent magnet material, which is more than 100 times the magnetic properties of the magnet used in 90th century, more superior than ferrite, aluminum-nickel cobalt, more than the high magnetic properties of platinum-cobalt alloy.
